“… Jesus … said,
‘It is finished.’
Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.”
(John 19 verse 30)

Now started the time of disillusionment and despair for the 11 disciples and all of Jesus’ other followers; the ‘man’ that had been their teacher, example and strength in life had been killed, and with Him their hopes and dreams had been shattered and destroyed too. But Good Friday was not the end of the story; as the preacher Tony Campolo used to say,

“It’s Friday, but Sunday’s coming!”

The death of Jesus on the Friday was not the final word. Jesus was raised to New Life, just as one day all of His followers will be too.

Lord Jesus,
You died so that I can have life in all its fullness.
Help me when doubts come, to trust in You
and all that You have done for me.

If this Easter you are going through a really tough time I pray you will find some encouragement in this prayer:

‘May the power of God guide you,
The might of God uphold you,
The wisdom of God teach you,
The eye of God watch over you,
The ear of God hear you,
The word of God give you speech,
The hand of God protect you,
The way of God go before you,
The shield of God shelter you.
Amen’
