So they took Jesus; 17 and carrying the cross by himself, he went out to what is called The Place of the Skull, which in Hebrew is called Golgotha. 18 There they crucified him, and with him two others, one on either side, with Jesus between them. 19 Pilate also had an inscription written and put on the cross. It read, ‘Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.’
(Reading:   John 19 v 16b – 19)

There are times and seasons when we are alone or we feel all alone. Jesus knew what that was like: when He stood before the High Priest, then He stood before Pilate, carried His own cross and ultimately when He hung on the cross for all of us. Amazingly the sign that was on the cross with Him declared that He was the King of the Jews and it was an accurate statement of Jesus’ identity.

When we face isolation and/or loneliness it is good to remember exactly who we are. We are God’s adopted sons and daughters and our destiny is to be with our Father, the Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit forever. Because of the sacrifice of Jesus we can know God and His presence with us now and for all time.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus,
Forgive me for the times when I have
not recognized You as my Lord, God and King.
Thank You that with You I am never alone,
Help me when I feel lonely to know Your love
and Your presence.
Amen.
